A childhood upbringing in rural Sussex inspired me to explore and study the beauty of the natural world. Efforts to record the creatures and plants encountered in the countryside in those early days were often thwarted by the limitations of my photographic equipment

I gained my Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society in natural history photography with a panel of images covering a spectrum from wild orchids to insects and mammals, all subjects which have remained my main fascination.

Working life demanded the recording of detailed and accurate information of subjects far removed from the world of wildlife. Forensic photography demands a huge attention to detail and poses many difficult technical problems, and yet can still involve an aesthetic sense.

Reflecting these working experiences, many of my photographs have been published in books, magazines, advertising literature and latterly on websites.

For nearly forty five years I have offered an extensive programme of illustrated talks on photography and natural history to Clubs and Societies. I am on the national speakers list of for the Royal Horticultural Society and Somerset Federation of Garden Clubs as well as the Somerset Wildlife Trust.

I live in Somerset with my wife Ann and our beloved cats, where we enjoy our garden and the quiet charm of a rural but lively small village.
